Algunas Cosas Toman Tiempo: Un análisis Cuantitativo del Contenido de la Cobertura de la Prensa Alemana sobre la Trata de Personas

La trata de personas (TP) puede dar lugar a otros tipos de delitos, como el secuestro, el contrabando y el tráfico de drogas. Según las estimaciones globales de 2021, el número de víctimas sigue creciendo y en 2021 ascendió a 49,6 millones, casi diez millones más que en 2016. Este estudio, un análisis cuantitativo del contenido de los artículos de prensa en Alemania, demuestra la dinámica de cobertura durante la pandemia y medidas de cuarentena. Metodológicamente, nos basamos en la clasificación cuadri-funcional de Entman (1993), que incluye retratos de víctimas y perpetradores, juicios morales, soluciones y llamados a la acción. Además, se revela el vínculo entre la orientación política de los periódicos y la cobertura del tema. Los resultados muestran que los medios de comunicación construyen su propia realidad: crean una víctima estereotipada y se centran en ciertos tipos de TP. El tema recibe una fuerte connotación política y las fronteras entre TP y el tráfico de personas se están desdibujando.
