Diamond open access

1. General principle

Interações: Sociedade e as novas modernidades adopts a policy of immediate open access. All published articles are made available online, in full and without restrictions, on the journal website.

2. Diamond open access model

The journal follows the diamond open access model, which means that:

  • no charges are levied on authors (APCs, Article Processing Charges) at any stage of the editorial process;
  • no costs are charged to readers to access, download, read, print or share the content;
  • the submission, review, editing and publication processes are supported within the institutional framework of the journal and its publisher.

3. Licence for use and reuse

Content published in the journal is made available under a Creative Commons licence, which clearly sets out the terms of reuse.

Licence applied: Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International (CC BY-NC 4.0)

In general terms, the licence permits the sharing and reuse of the content, including for academic and educational purposes, provided that:

  • appropriate attribution is given to the authors and to the journal;
  • the full bibliographic reference to the article is included;
  • the indication of the licence is retained and, where applicable, any changes are flagged;
  • the material is used for non-commercial purposes only.

4. Copyright and publishing rights

Copyright ownership belongs to the authors. On publishing in the journal, authors grant Interações a non-exclusive licence to:

  • edit, publish and disseminate the article on the journal website and through its communication channels;
  • archive and preserve the content in systems and repositories associated with the editorial policy;
  • make metadata and files available for indexing, visibility and interoperability purposes.

Reuse by third parties is governed by the Creative Commons licence indicated in the article and in this policy.

5. Deposit and self-archiving in repositories

Interações encourages the deposit and dissemination of articles by authors in:

  • institutional and national repositories (for example, academic repositories and the RCAAP ecosystem, where applicable);
  • subject repositories;
  • personal academic pages and platforms for sharing scholarly output, provided that the attribution and licence conditions are respected.

Versions permitted for deposit:

  • the published version (the journal’s final PDF), where the editorial policy and the licence applied permit;
  • the accepted manuscript, where applicable.

Embargo: the journal applies a zero embargo, except where expressly indicated in duly justified exceptional cases.

6. Identification, interoperability and preservation

The journal promotes the dissemination and long-term preservation of content through:

  • the provision of complete metadata;
  • digital preservation measures and editorial archiving, in accordance with the internal procedures of the publisher and the platform.

Where applicable, articles may be integrated into persistent identifier systems (for example, DOI) and indexing and aggregation channels.

7. Transparency and sustainability of the model

Interações’ diamond open access is supported by institutional resources and editorial work associated with the publisher and the journal’s management structures. This model ensures editorial independence and universal access, without shifting costs onto authors or readers.

8. Entry into force and updates

This policy enters into force on the date of its publication on the journal website and may be updated whenever necessary, for editorial, legal or technical reasons. The version in force is the one published on this page.
