Imigração, Trabalho, Saúde e Representações Sociais: O Caso Brasileiro em Portugal

Resumo

A situação de vida dos imigrantes, o seu trabalho e saúde constituem objetos complexos de análise, exigindo a compreensão de práticas sociais determinantes e a promoção e prevenção da saúde do trabalhador. O objetivo deste artigo é reflectir acerca da interface entre a saúde dos trabalhadores imigrantes e a teoria das representações sociais, destacando a importância da teoria das representações sociais na compreensão do impacto da imigração na saúde física e psíquica, em relação ao processo de aculturação.

Immigration, Work, Health, and Social Representations:
The Brazilian Case in Portugal

The life situation of immigrants, their work and health constitute complex objects of analysis, demanding the understanding of determinant social practices and the promotion and prevention of the worker’s health. The aim of this article is to reflect on the interface between the health of the immigrant workers and the theory of social representations, bringing attention to the importance of the social representations theory in the understanding of the impact of immigration in the physical and psychic health, vis-avis the acculturation process.
