Representações Sociais da Pobreza e das Medidas de Política Social: Um Estudo no Concelho de Anadia

Resumo

Este artigo é baseado num trabalho de investigação em serviço social, no concelho de Anadia, acerca da representação que técnicos da área social e os próprios beneficiários fazem da condição de pobreza e das medidas de política social. A combinação da teoria das representações sociais com instrumentos de análise linguística permite compreender como, tanto os profissionais da área social, como os beneficiários tendem a reproduzir visões sedimentadas sobre estas questões, incluindo culparem-se mutuamente sobre a eficácia das medidas de acção social e a perpetuação de uma cultura de pobreza.

 

Social Representations of Poverty and Social Policy Measures:
A Study in the Municipality of Anadia

This article is based on a social research work in the municipality of Anadia, with social security professionals and social security beneficiaries, regarding their values and ideas about the poverty condition and anti-poverty social policies. The combination of the theory of social representations with tools of linguistic analysis allows the understanding of how both, professionals and beneficiaries, tend to reproduce sedimented visions on those issues, including blaming mutually on the efficacy of measures of social action and the perpetuation of a poverty culture.
